Friends of the Parks opposes the proposed site for the new Children’s Museum
The Chicago Children’s Museum has proposed to build a new structure at the site of the current Daley Bicentennial Plaza, at Randolph Street in Grant Park, to move from their current location at Navy Pier.

The plans call for a building to be constructed in the parking lot levels below Randolph St., and to replace the existing Daley Bicentennial Fieldhouse.

While Friends of the Parks supports museums in parks (there are already 9 museums in Chicago’s parks), we do not support the museum’s plans as currently presented.

Completing the Last 4 Miles of Lakefront
Chicago’s public lakefront is one of the most unique, progressive features of our city. In honor of the upcoming 100th Anniversary of the publication of Daniel Burnham and Edward Bennett’s Plan of Chicago, Friends of the Parks has organized a series of public meetings, or charrettes, to obtain citizen involvement in the planning process. Starting on Chicago’s South Side in 2006, where we came up with several optional designs for the area south of South Shore Park to the Indiana state line, we have now expanded our program to obtain citizen ideas and feedback on Chicago’s north side, Hollywood to the Evanston border.
